Interment: Hubbard Lake Cemetery.
Memorials: Hubbard Lake United Methodist Church. The story goes that Lucille and Clyde met as complete strangers, however, after their marriage discovered they were actually third cousins. Eash being descended from the same Ellsworth Family going back to Israel Ellsworth. Lucille is actually a second cousin to Clyde's mother Lillian May Ellsworth. This would make Clyde a third cousin to Lucille. We hope you have that all straight.

They lived in Detroit, Michigan until June, 1956 when they moved to the family farm in Hubbard Lake, Michigan. This being the original farm homestead of her grandfather John Ellsworth. The farm had passed to Ida Isabelle Ellsworth (John's daughter) and Lester William Ellsworth (John's son-in-law but also his brother Emanuel Ellsworth's son). Following the untimely death of Lester William Ellsworth the farm transferred from Ida Isabelle Ellsworth to her brother Charles Centenial Ellsworth.

The homestead farm is located on Scott Road about 1 mile directly west of Hubbard Lake, Michigan intersection. A 100th Centenial celebration was held at the farm on June 26, 1976. In a letter written on July 30, 1979, Lucille wrote the following:

"It was a huge success except it ended up in a big storm of Hail and Wind. The lights going out and using the old kerosene lamps. The hail could be scooped up by the shovels a full two hours later. It's still the talk of the community. The ladies of the Church had an old fashioned ice cream social on our lawn until the storm. Then they moved into my kitchen and kept right on serving to all the people in the house."

AREA FARM CITED FOR CENTENNIAL AWARD

A farm owned by Mr. & Mrs. Clyde Schooks of Scott - rd, Hubbard Lake, has been designated as a Centennial Farm by the Michigan Historical Commission.
The farm, located in Ossineke Township, has been in the possession of the Schooks family since 1871. It was originally purchased in the spring of 1871 by John Ellsworth, grandfather of the present owners, from the U. S. Government.
Secretary of State Richard H. Austin, who heads the Michigan Department of State which directs activities of the Michigan Historical Commission, said the Centennial Farm program in Michigan was inaugurated in 1948. since that time, certificates and metal markers have been awarded to some 3,000 Michigan farms.
The Historical Commission administers the program while the markers are provided by Detroit Edison and Consumers Power companies.
Explains Austin, "a Centennial Farm is one which has been in the continuous possession of the same family for 100 years or more."
For selection purposes, the Historical Commission considers a farm to be 10 or more acres having estimated sales of more than $50 yearly, or less than 10 acres but having estimated sales of $250 a year.
Any farm owner who wishes to apply for a Centennial Farm to apply for a Centennial Farm certificate is asked to write for an application to: Centennial Farm Program; Michigan Historical Commission; Michigan Department of State; Lansing 48918.

Another event was the celebration of Lucille and Clyde's 35th wedding anniversary on April 15, 1979:

"On April 14th, our two children surprised us with a party on our 35th Anniversary, which happened to fall on Easter Sunday this year. It was held in the church parlors and the ladies of the church put on a gig dinner. How they did all this without one inkling leaking out, I'll never know. Even the two little Grandchildren kept it a secret. My daughter had all my old pictures on display plus my wedding gown and veil and the top of my original cake on this cake. I just could not believe it all."

Lucille continued to state the following about the family farm of John Ellsworth:

"My father, Charles C. Ellsworth, stayed on the Homestead and remained a farmer all his life. I lived 10 years in Detroit, but other than that still live on the same farm and same house."[Broderbund Family Archive #110, Vol. 2 M-Z, Ed. 6, Social Security Death Index: U.S., Date of Import: 1 Apr 2000, Internal Ref. #1.112.6.71346.109]
