Sources & Information:
Amelia A. Beckwith's grandparents were Simon Beckwith and Lucy Ann Jenks. They were married 29 June 1837 and had the following children: Charles Titus Beckwith, b. 1 May 1848 who d. 1908, Benjamin Franklin Beckwith and Amelia Beckwith.

In the late 1880's many individuals had album's used for comments by members of the family or friends regarding their relationship to the album owner. The below is address to Amelia A. Beckwith wife of Christopher John Ellsworth from a friend named L. W. Himes. This is of most interest since Christopher John Ellsworth's mothers name was Mary Ann Himes. Our records indicate that Mary came from Detroit before her marriage to Emanuel Ellsworth. A further note in the album entry indicates L. W. Himes as also from Detroit, Michigan. The commentary is as follows:

Detroit, Dec. 24, 1881

To Amelia.-
"You ask me to write in your album,
And I scarce know where to begin,
For there is nothing original in me
Except Original Sin."
Your friend,
L. W. Himes.
