Thomas Ellis was a Revolutionary War soldier serving as a private in Capt. Ward Swift's
2d Sandwich Company which marched on the alarm of 19 April 1775. He was called"Lieft." in his 57th year. In the 1790 census he is listed as the head of a Plymouth family of two males over 16, two under 16 and four females. In various transactions he is described as "Thomas Ellis of Plymouth, gentleman." Children are from the Plymouth Town Records.
