Sources & Information:
See Book 1, page 96, No. 1440, St Clair Co., Birth Records, Port Huron, Michigan for the birth of Charles Lewis Ellsworth, as 1868. some relatives had indicated it as 1867 but is incorrect.

Charles Ellsworth and Susan Elizabeth Monroe are reported as having lived in St Clair, Owosso, Wolverine and Lewiston, Michigan. Arnold E. Orr indicates Susan Elizabeth Monroe's place of birth as Port Huron, Michigan, in the family bible. This bible record also indicated that they had another child Margaret Ellsworth born sometime before Guy Monroe Ellsworth.

During our visit on July 2, 1986, with Dennis Hunter, Township Clerk, Albert Township, P.O. Box 153, Lewiston, Michigan 49756, the exact location of the Lewiston Cemetery was found to be about 1/2 mile north of the center of town. This cemetery was originally mapped out in blocks or sections. with the block then divided into lots containing 8 graves. At the Township Office are records of original Deeds, indicating date of purchase, the purchaser and portion of lot acquired. Among these were found the following purchases:
"This Indenture, Made and entered into this 2nd day of July, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and twenty nine BETWEEN The Board of Health of Albert Township of the Township of Albert County of Montmorency and State of Michigan of the first part, and Mrs Susie Ellsworth, of the second part, Witnessed, That for and in consideration of the sum of Five Dollars, lawful money of the United States of America, to them in hand paid by the said part of the second part, the receipt whereof is hereby to them confessed and acknowledged, the said parties of the first part hereby convey, bargain, sell, remise and release unto the said party of the second part, ALL AND SINGULAR, that certain piece or parcel of land known and described as follows: Lot No. 55, Block 4, Town Albert, in the Lewiston Cemetery, and by these presents do hereby convey, bargain sell, remise and release unto the said part of the second part, their heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, To Have and to Hold the same unto the said party of the second part, their heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, FOREVER.
In Witness Whereof, We have hereunto set our hands and seals, this 2nd day of July, A.D. 1929. Samuel S. Fuller, Township Clerk.

ASSESSMENT ROLL -- 1913. Charles Ellsworth--NW 1/4 of NW 1/4 of Sec. 36, Town 30, Range 1, 40 acres, assessed valuation $400.00, taxes $10.40. Also NW 1/2 of SE 1/4 of Sec. 36, Town 30, Range 1, 80 acres, assessed valuation $200.00, taxes $5.20.

The Township Clerk, Albert Township, Lewiston, Michigan explained that a period of records had been destroyed by fire and that his office was attempting to reconstruct the cemetery burial records. They may know the purchaser of lots, however, they do not always have the exact individual grave number in the 8 grave lot. If know it is because a marker had been previously placed.
Through copies of Death Certificates and Burial Permits we are able to establish the following persons as having been buried in the Lewiston Cemetery:

Mary Jane Ellsworth, d 24 March 1931.
Mary Ann Hines [Himes] Ellsworth, d. 14 March 1930.
Susan Elizabeth Monroe Ellsworth, d. 4 April 1949.
Charles L. Ellsworth, d. 4 November 1947.
Guy Monroe Ellsworth, d. 11 January 1964.

There is a brass military grave marker, of government issue, for Guy Monroe Ellsworth as follows: Guy Monroe Ellsworth, Michigan, PFC CO C. 310 Engineers, World War I, Oct 11 1895
Jan 11 1964.

There are no other markers for members of the Ellsworth family indicated as buried in this cemetery. One must assume that they are buried in either Lots 52, 53 and 55. Perhaps a member of Guy Monroe Ellsworth family may be able to further identify the exact locations.
